gliding
| As with Flying, all cadets are given the opportunity to go gliding. They undertake their gliding at 621VGS in Hullavington and are offered the following courses. |
|
Gliding Induction Courses: This is open to any 1st Class cadet who is over fourteen years of age. The course concentrates on teaching cadets the basics of glider flying, and familiarising them with the controls. The course consists of 5 launches or 30 minutes soaring time which should allow you to get a knowledge of the control surfaces and the way a glider works and flies.

Gliding Scholarships: A Gliding Scholarship course is an opportunity for cadets to undergo further training in a glider to obtain their Gliding Wings. The course consists of up to 40 launches in a Viking or 8 hours flight time in the Vigilant to achieve the Gliding Scholarship wings. Cadets showing potential are invited to progress onto doing their solo wings. There is also the opportunity for cadets wishing to become VGS staff cadets to obtain their Advanced Glider Training gold wings. |
