Each year during the summer period the cadets are given the opportunity to attend a Summer Camp staying at a Royal Air Force Station. During these weeks away at camp the cadets enjoy a whole host of activities. The primary goal is for the cadets to see and appreciate the way of life within the Royal Air Force
Staying usually in the RAF accommodation, eating in the normal airman's mess facility. Cadets can enjoy work placements within the various sections in and around the station. Other activities include flying where possible in the service aircraft based on the station and the normal Air Experience Flying in the Grob Tutor aircraft, shooting using the L98 General Purpose Cadet rifle on the RAF ranges, Navigation exercises, Night exercises, Visits to other local RAF Stations, Visiting other places of interest such as aviation museums etc. The whole week is very exhausting for cadets and staff alike, providing a memorable week away for all concerned! There are a variety of camps run by the Air Training Corps and many cadets and staff that you speak to will say that they are the most enjoyable element of the Air Training Corps, purely because you get to spend a week away from home anywhere in the UK or abroad living as a member of the Royal Air Force and participating in a HUGE range of activities.
